Spring

This spring has brought a myriad of potentiality for growth. Keeping up with my practice of sending in one application for every rejection happens to be working in my favor, culminating in my first New York city group show. What is meant for you is often pre-gamed by failure. That show is at Viridian Artists Gallery, one of the oldest and longest open artists run galleries in NYC. Located in the Chelsea neighborhood of the city, which is one of the most famous art hotspots in the world, Viridian is housed in The Landmark Arts Building. Show is up through March 28th, so if you’re in the Big Apple stop by!

I am finding that growing up as a high masking Autistic, even though having blown out my adrenals, has primed me for moving through discomfort. Every moment, every path has been excruciatingly uncomfortable so may as well travel the path toward your souls yearning, amirite? I am but a pinball ricocheting of the paddles of life. Let’s light it up!

I am working on putting together a body of work for a solo show I have coming up in July. Evolve Coaching, a non-profit coaching and therapy center for children and young adults on the autism spectrum, will be opening a brand-new facility this July in the Garfield neighborhood of Pittsburgh. Located right on Penn Ave, this space will house a 1st floor entrance gallery. I am very honored to be the first featured artist. Evolve is a place that would have made all the difference to my formative experience as an autistic young person pursuing higher education and an art career. Even just developing the skills to adult and human. Their new facility houses a mock apartment for participants to learn and practice practical skills like cleaning, cooking and doing laundry. You know, those things you are just expected to know because you read The Brother’s Karamazov in 7th grade for fun. Anyway, it is a place I love and if I can bring awareness AND art to our community, I am all in. Stay tuned for opening information.

The Flock Artist Collective, a cohort of local mother artists of which I am a thankful member, will be putting together a show at The Midwife Center in a few months! We are shooting for a Mother’s Day opening, but again, stay tuned for details.

It’s a season of renewal and birth and fresh beginnings, and I am here for it.
